legacy of MC KASH

Before writing this,I thought ten times. there are hundred interview articles about mc kash and better than this but I want to write about mc kash in kashmir's hip-hop style and kashmiri hip-hop vision.

Mc kash needs no introduction, every body is familiar with kash.being a rapper, kash did way much for kashmiri hip hop, young chose rap over drugs and i am a witness of that,hip-hop wasnt  introduced as a western cultural invasion but it saw its own origin in kashmir and if you talk about hip-hop in kashmir and kash doesnt come into picture,I am sure then you are talking about Something else and also it will be very wrong if we dont appreciate kash's tracks prior mid 2010,tracks like moment of truth first track I listened it very much, dozen times in a day.the track is very good but kash improvised very rapidly after tracks recorded prior,I remember when I listened to I PROTEST,I was like "this is dope" .I PROTEST turned hip-hop in kashmir upside down.everybody was listening, bluetoothing, downloading, sharing it even some unknown spray painted I PROTEST tag on walls.it was an anthem for every young fella.

After I PROTEST kash was touching sky, tracks after tracks kash became a youth icon.kash directly or indirectly inspired many hip-hop artists in kashmir like kay emmar, mcyoungblood, king utb and every other artist except some.

Some rappers were tryna bring kash's rapping style in their songs at their levels.nobody could rap but after kash's presence, everybody hardworked and made rap tracks at their own best levels, their efforts and their rap lyrics almost included protest nature.

One way or other kash lifted kashmiri hip-hop way high.kash was also part of a rap group ONE CRIB  formed with another rapper HAZE-KAY.Tracks by these duo like rhymes of relevation and two worlds were more than we can say,ONE CRIB is still active or not,I am not sure about it.

We should be supportive and never be jealous because every body has their talents, just they dont see it.i am not gaining anything from writing this but I want to elevate our hip-hop culture any way we can.

Song of the week-Family Portrait by Mc kash

Family Portrait

by MC Kash

From the album Rebel RepubliK
Family Portrait
 /

LYRICS

Verse I:

he left home one morning with a basket of fruits
kept walking in the snow with his half torn boots
it's hard in a war zone to earn your living
and to feed your fam you should be brave and willing

to go out in a world of constant hate
where the guns keep blazing night and day
but your kids will starve if you don't face this war
and he had seen it all when they burnt his stall

when the skies turn red and their rage would call
when machine guns roared till every man would fall
but courage and will took over his tears
and he left home that day feeling his fears

it's cruel how fate never gave a chance
to faith, hope and the dreams of this man
for an armoured truck did cross his path
and he left home that day and never came back

Verse II:

she looks out a window and stares at a door
still waits for that man who went out in the cold
hours have passed and years have gone
her tears run dry but her search is on

outside jails and garrisons she waits in a line
"Is he here?" she would ask is he still alive
on bits of paper they write it down
last seen in Papa 2 now moved out of town

and with a child in her arms she goes looking around
through miles of journey she fights her doubts
who survived in this war who lived to tell
what happens when you dissappear in this hell

and she got no answers in their courts of shame
and was called a half widow seeking a grave
now she lives with her struggle in a room so dark
that when she holds his pictures you could hear him talk

Verse III:

it's hard for a fatherless son to grow up
in a world so cold when it hurts to hold on
to a life so cruel when you living so poor
that to feed your hunger you would eat your soul

you would beat the cold like your dad had done
but your mum is old and she needs her son
but you done with patience posing questions
invoking God - opposing fiction

mother why he gone I need him now
been speakin to pictures can I feel him now
can I ask for justice a cause or reason
or my dad's grave, so I could see him

and I know it maa you sacrificed
saving money for my school you raised me right
putting food on the table you taught me life
but it hurts when I hear you cry all night

MC Kash speaking:

The struggle of this family has just started. Every other month,
mass graves emerge from the bosom of this land. And every other day,
thousands of families like these seek answers. The forgotten people,
of a forgotten land . . .

Graffiti art culture spreads as problems associated with it

Coup de varmul is a new graff art crew comprising of new aspiring artists who paint their stories on the walls in the form of tags, burners and throw ups...

Many artists support their presence in the streets like zyclon-b ,ghalib and other writers....

Artists are trying to develop their styles of fonts, expression and techniques but due to costly cans monopolized by retailers who sell low quality cans on high prices and a writer can afford hardly 4 or 5 cans at a time with 1000 rupees.

People are also seeing graffiti as growing as a menace growing in the streets. Many people try to approach authorities to stop graffiti without knowing what it is about while writers complain about peolple  not  complaining about drug sale in the same streets where a graffiti burner messages people about good things and people complain about graffiti but not about drugs thats decaying our youth.

Another menace what writers say is about child abuse, sex trafficing, rapes and adult films based in kashmir and no action is taken against that ???

this behaviour of people has raged writers who niether can seek a legal way of painting graffiti like in united states and other countries  and niether can approach people..

Many graffiti tags, throws and stencils too appeared in the city are growing criticising society for this dual treatment and writers continue
To hide their faces from general public.

Graffiti war continues between pro-taliban writers and anti-taliban writers in kashmir.

Graffiti war an alien term you cannot throw around kashmir but thats what kashmiri home-grown graffiti group in collaboration with artists like ghalib have declared  a street graffiti war with those who write about talibanisationof kashmir from pak taliban. Below these  photos of anti-taliban graffiti growing are viral on internet since these types of tags appeared on walls.

"We dont hide and write this bullshit on walls, now people are taking those morons and us in a same category " - ghalib an independent graffiti artist who has started the drums of such paint war and further added

"when i look at these writings i wonder how these writings are done with in a such a high security area  and how people allow this anti-social writings on their walls but when we do a good portrait or a good graffiti piece i have to think hundred times before doing that COZ people dont understand. This is not good and this graff war will decide the fate of real graff scene in kashmir " the same views were agreed by el-horia also

According to the artist's resources this war is likely going to be continued............
